24 TV Series

The 24 TV series is a popular American drama series which has won numerous awards and is widely respected within the industry. One of the key features of the show that sets it apart from other similar programs is the fact that each episode represents one hour in the life of the central character, and each series is comprised of twenty four episodes making up a full day. So far there have been six series of the show and a seventh is due to start airing in American early in 2009. The show stars Kiefer Sutherland who portrays the main protagonist Jack Bauer.

Despite it’s widespread success the 24 TV series has faced a great deal of negative criticism from some people, particularly in Europe, where human rights groups have condemned the show for its frequent and graphic depictions of torture being used as an effective method of interrogation. The depictions of computer surveillance systems as well as other violations of human rights in the show also draw criticism from its detractors.

The 24 TV series is also widely recognised for the phenomenal success it has had on DVD release, particularly in the UK where it was the number one selling DVD box set for a significant period of time. The release of the first season onto DVD in America increased the number of viewers for the second series by 25% when it was televised, which illustrates how incredibly successful the DVD releases were.
